A large Teak, Metal Bound Dowry Chest from the North Indian Area of Rajasthan. Dating from the mid 19th Century, these would be given by the Brides family to the prospective Husband, usually containing all types of Fabrics, Silk, Silver and Monetary Goods in exchange for there daughter. This Chest is in painted Teak and still has the original Hasps and Iron lock and on the original wheels, Not just a practicable storage item but also a great Interior Design piece.
