A fine example of a Country House Gateleg or Dropleaf Table of the late 17th C.
The Table can be fairly accuratley dated by the of the Pegged fixings to the Top and the joints between the top planks are Butt jointed, also the crude Hand cut rebates to the Legs point to a very early example. After 1720 the Top joints were Screw fixes and the Top folding joints were of a "Rule" type (A Convex Moulding)
This is a very sound and stable Table with great colour and patina.
